Bikes for Kids – Bosch associates give to the community

For most children, Christmas is a season of hope and generosity, but for some it is a difficult time of hardship brought on by unfortunate circumstances. The associates at Bosch Packaging Technology’s office in Minneapolis decided to help make Christmas morning a little brighter for these young ones.

The “Bikes for Kids” program aims to bring hope to parents who can’t afford gifts for Christmas, and to bring joy to the children who receive that magical gift of a bicycle. To many this gift is a functional form of transportation that enables them to take part in after-school activities or get enough outdoor exercise.

To participate in “Bikes for Kids”, all Bosch associates in Minneapolis have the opportunity to buy shares of bicycles that are then donated to the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) as part of their annual holiday toy drive. The program is very popular among the staff members, as demonstrated by their generosity.

This year’s drive was an outstanding success. Employees raised enough donations to purchase 17 bicycles along with helmets and locks, surpassing their goal of 15 bicycles. It was the second year Bosch associates have participated in this program; the first was in 2013 when 16 bicycles were donated.

The CEAP organizers were delighted to receive the generous donation, and followed up with thank-you notes from those who received the bikes.

CEAP is a local community-based program that offers a wide variety of services for those in need, ranging from food shelf services to educational programs designed to get people back on their feet. For more information, go to
