Promising talents to shape the pharma world

From January 29 to 31, the 6th All-Russian Student Pharmaceutical Olympiad was held in Nizhny Novgorod. Next to many pharmaceutical companies, Bosch Packaging Technology was the only equipment supplier to support this event. “As a first-time partner to the Pharmaceutical Olympiad, this event was a great opportunity to interact with promising talents,” says Ralf Schmied, Vice President Product Group Pharma Solid at Bosch Packaging Technology.

Very challenging competition

Mikhail Dmitriev and Martin Weidmann represented the Bosch portfolio to 160 students  and organizedacompetition. Eleven teams of five students each decided to take up Bosch’s challenge. This included investigating root cause analysis of segregation issues during scale-up to a production capsule filler, presenting different tablet and capsule designs, and explaining tablet quality deviations after tablet coating.

With only 20 minutes to prepare for each task, this was quite a challenge, even for the best pharmaceutical students in their last year of studies. But the presentations impressed everyone. The winner team from Saint-Petersburg Chemical-Pharmaceutical University convinced with deepknowledge of solid dosage forms and delivered the best presentation, closely followed by the team from Yaroslavsky State Medical University, who took the second place for the most systematic approach.

For Bosch Packaging Technology, the best outcome of the Pharma Olympiad, was to get in touch with a great number of young and motivated talents. Some showed immediate interest in a career with Bosch. Ralph Schmied considers the Olympiad as a great platform to discover motivated and talented young potentials “who will help us shape the pharmaceutical world of tomorrow.”. The next Olympiad will be held in 2021 in the Kaliningrad region. Bosch Packaging Technology is highly motivated to be part of it again.
