Inspiring insights at the PDA in Mainz and Gothenburg

October 9 and 10, 2019, the training for “Best Practices for Glass Primary Containers” of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) in Mainz entered its third round. After the success of the courses in the past years, participants could look forward to interesting and practice-oriented lectures and an experienced team of trainers this year.

Glass vials, ampoules, syringes and cartridges are being used especially in the pharmaceutical packaging industry. Professional glass handling practices are therefore essential to assure glass-based container performance, safety maintenance and efficiency of the drug product. In practice-oriented training courses, the participants gained insights into the science of glass and its chemical and physical properties. The packaging process for different containers in the pharmaceutical industry was systematically explained and further insights into glass breakage were presented.

In addition to the speakers Dr. Felix Brosi and Florian Maurer (both SCHOTT AG) as well as Karl Siemoneit (Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH), Klaus Ullherr from Bosch Packaging Technology provided interesting practical insights. His lecture series dealt with the topic “Machine Use of Glass Primary Packaging Material”. The focus was on the machine process ability, the use of glass primary packaging material along the process chain and the coordination process among primary packaging material and machine. Thanks to many years of experience, Klaus Ullherr gave valuable tips on how to handle glass in form of a case study.

Save the date

Klaus Ullherr will give interesting insights into the fill and finish process.
